10 Algebra 1 Desmos Activities

You guessed it! These are my all time favorite Desmos activities to use with my Algebra 1 students. Using technology is a great break from the monotonous notes and practice routine, and luckily for us, the students love these activities too!

Check out this blog post to learn more about Desmos and other amazing FREE math websites!

Polygraphs on Desmos are basically the math version of Guess Who? Students need to ask each other yes or no questions using math vocabulary to narrow down their options until they get to the last graph. This activity can last from 15 to 45 minutes depending on the number of rounds you want your students to play.

Students will think critically about whether each relation is a function and how to prove it.

In this activity, students make observations about scatter plot associations including linear vs. nonlinear, strong vs. weak correlations, and positive vs. negative correlations.

This activity gets students thinking about expressions and equations in a different way using algebra tiles to represent different groups and types of equations.

This activity introduces special types of solutions to linear systems and reinforces what it means for systems to have a solution.

The students think critically about this difference between and/or compound inequalities and what makes a point on the number line a solution of each inequality.

In this activity, students solve systems of equations using substitution and elimination. They need to use logic and reason to defend the method that they chose for each problem.

This activity gamifies inequalities on a number line stressing the importance of solutions and open/closed circle inequalities.
