Increase student engagement with this no-prep slope-intercept form and standard form activity using individual whiteboards! Your students will solidify their understanding of manipulating and rewriting linear equations.

This activity includes teacher directions, a review of slope-intercept, standard, and point-slope forms, 12 questions, and lesson slides. There is also a printable version that can be used with the slides if you don’t have a classroom set of individual whiteboards.

*Note: You can make a ‘whiteboard’ using any piece of paper and sheet protectors!*

How this lesson plan works:

  1. Review forms of linear equations (if necessary).
  2. Present each question on the board. Your students will solve the problem, then lift their whiteboard for immediate feedback.
  3. Float around the room to check in with students and quickly see what they do and don’t understand.
  4. Animated slides reveal each answer before moving on to the next question

This activity includes:

✅ 12 questions for rewriting equations into slope-intercept or standard form

✅ Teacher directions

✅ Animated Google Slides with answer key

✅ Printable version with answer key

Questions include:

Ways to use this linear equations activity in your Algebra 1 class:

Small group intervention – Choose 5-6 questions to assign to students in a small group. Your students will solve each problem on whiteboards (or on the worksheet), so that you can give them immediate feedback and targeted support. You can also use this as an opportunity to pre-teach vocabulary.

Guided practice – Students solve the problems on each slide and get immediate feedback from the teacher. This is a perfect formative assessment to check for student understanding.

Test review – Quickly and easily review for an upcoming polynomials test with this activity.
