Do your Algebra 2 students need extra practice with identifying key features of quadratics? This digital and printable card sort activity for writing quadratic equations in standard form will reinforce finding the vertex, axis of symmetry, and the maximum/minimum values of each parabola.
The digital card sort includes three student slides:
✅ Slide 2 – Drag and drop the vertex and axis of symmetry to the corresponding graph of a quadratic function.
✅ Slide 3 – Students are given three graphs of quadratic equations and need to match them with the correct vertex and minimum/maximum value.
✅ Slide 4 – The students will find the vertex and axis of symmetry algebraically for three quadratic equations in standard form.
The printable version can be used as an independent cut-and-paste activity or laminated for group work. I love using card sorts as sub plans because the cutting and gluing takes up some extra time and keeps my students engaged for a longer period of time.
Use the digital card sort for extra practice, math centers or test review. This activity is Google Slides compatible so that the students can have their own copy to complete. A full set of teacher directions and answer keys is included for both versions of this card sort activity.
Differentiation:
This key features of quadratics activity uses built-in scaffolding to meet your students where they are. Each slide gives 12 possible options with only 6 correct answers. Your students will have the confidence builder of an answer bank without being able to rely on the process of elimination.
For less differentiation, you can use the printable version as a standard worksheet without matching cards.
