Solving Inequalities Real World Activity

If your Algebra 1 students need practice translating real-world situations into inequalities, this Halloween math activity puts the skill into a fun pumpkin-carving competition. Students take on the Great Halloween Pumpkin Challenge, where they use two-step and multi-step inequalities (including inequalities with variables on both sides) to solve a series of challenges involving time and points scored. The activity challenges students to go beyond simply solving an inequality by asking them to reflect on what their solutions actually mean.

Solving Literal Equations 4 of a Kind Activity

In this Algebra activity, students will solve literal equations for a variety of different equations and variables. The digital version provides fun for Fall / Autumn and can be used around Halloween or Thanksgiving time for extra practice on this topic. Students will get immediate feedback if they are correct or incorrect.  Also, students will see the images on the right side shuffle through Fall pictures as they answer questions. When all 3 answers in each row are correct, that row will show the final image. Students should try to get 4 of a kind!
